Friends of the Library

The Friends of Southwest Public Libraries is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that supports the mission of Southwest Public Libraries. The group conducts fundraising, volunteer work, public awareness efforts and literacy programs in the community on behalf of the library.

The 2016-2017 Friends of the Library Board includes President Carol Rorick, President Emeritus Laura Harper, Vice President Melba Hompertz, Treasurer Susan Roy, Secretary Mariann Rowe and members Rosemary Barkes,  Averil MacKenzie, Virginia “Ginnie” Milliken and Jane Mixer.

The Friends generate most of its money for the library through the sale of donated books, magazines and other materials. Donated materials can be dropped off at either SPL branch.

Patrons can also enroll in the Kroger Community Rewards Program, which designates a portion of their purchases at Kroger stores to be donated to the Friends. All participants in the Kroger Community Rewards program must re-enroll each year to continue earning rewards for their chosen organization. Membership applications are available at both Grove City and Westland Area branches. Annual membership fees are $5 for students/seniors (55+), $15 for individuals and $30 for families. The lifetime membership fees for individuals is $200.
