Gettysburg: the Battle that Defined Our Nation

July 2013 is the 150th Anniversary of the Battle of Gettysburg.  Join MSgt Stephen Walter USMCR (Ret.) and Library Director Mark Shaw for a three part seminar on one of the most crucial battles of the Civil War.  Portions of the movie Gettysburg will be shown each evening with discussion of the battle to follow.

  • July 1st – Fighting at McPherson Ridge and the Union forces fortify Cemetery Hill and Culp’s Hill.
  • July 2nd- General Lee uses an echelon attack against the Union forces and Colonel Chamberlain’s 20th Maine Regiment defends Little Round Top.
  • July 3rd- Pickett’s Charge against the Union and the end of the Battle of Gettysburg.
